That pretty about sums it up.  I have a suspicion this is why I’m so smrt.  I mean smert.

“Instead of building the product first, construct the offer first. Then, write the sales letter or whatever copy you will use when pitching it. Think about the ultimate value you will deliver to people and focus on that throughout. Then build the actual product with this end-goal in mind. Remember, even if you have a 3% conversion rate, 97% of people will never see your actual product—so don’t neglect the parts they will see.” Chris Guillebeau is brilliant.  Read this.

“Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” William Hutchinson Murray, The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (1951) (often misattributed to Goethe)

“Deep in my cells I know there’s something bad at the end if I don’t get through it. This keeps me honest. It keeps me scared. I am stronger because I know there is a consequence. I know I can’t get away with slacking off. This is what happens when you ascend above mediocrity. It’s a game. It’s a test. It is the way I live my life.”

Mark Twight (About his ice climbing career)

Mark Twight is one baaadd mama jamma.  Most of you know him as the trainer of the 300.

don’t just read this. grasp it.

The definition of discernment. Very important.

I think that of all the words of wisdom, this has the biggest potential to improve the world.

Wow. I’m surprised that there are people in the world over age 8 who can’t or don’t do this.  That explains a lot.  I’ve been taking this ability for granted.

I have learned, as a rule of thumb, never to ask whether you can do something. Say, instead, that you are doing it. Then fasten your seat belt. The most remarkable things follow.

Don’t confuse drive and passion. Drive pushes you forward. It’s a duty, an obligation. Passion pulls you. It’s the sense of connection you feel when the work you do expresses who you are. Only passion will get you through the tough times.

As I tell the M.B.A. classes I sometimes address, it’s the romance, not the finance that makes business worth pursuing.

“Which solitude is the one in which the snake caresses us and licks our cheeks and our lips? How far have we distanced ourselves from being, when only the snake can be with us?”
